Extremely entertaining to work and - once finished - lovely to contemplate - The Needlepoint Samplers enhance any decor.

Perfect for beginners or experts alike. The borders - reminiscent of a Chinese cloisonné - are based on a stationary fret to quietly accent the movement of the alphabet and the superimposed hydrangeas.

The symmetry and contrasts of movement produce a tranquilizing effect on any spectator.

Stunning - delicate and elegant - the Samplers are a must for any discerning person - the true art of painting with small dots of colored fibers - taken to the peak of excellence.

Samplers were historically made to show or test skills in needlework. They often included the alphabet - figures - motifs - decorative borders and sometimes the name of the person who embroidered it and the date. The word sampler is derived from the Latin ‘exemplum’ - an example.

Traditionally - any refined lady was challenged to produce complex needlework samplers - thus a show of her discipline - care and even intelligence was recorded this way to show others - especially potential suitors. Today this form of needlework has survived the passing of centuries and evolved into an entertainment and relaxing escape from stress.
