From the Trades of Talavera Needlepoint Collection - The Hunter Motif - a typical Historical Trades motif painting - was a necessary trade in the seventeenth century - without supermarkets and similar amenities. The Hunter is seen accompanied by his Dog as they pursue the trail.

Twenty different Colors are dyed to interpret this Historical painting into Needlepoint. The Hunter´s Dog is worked in two shades of charcoal - black and white. The figure hosts the same colors as the other three Motif paintings used in this Collection.

This one Design was stitched four times before deciding that the colors were dyed as exactly as possible to the original Seventeenth Century Tiles from Talavera de la Reina - Spain.

The Hunter Needlepoint

Once content with the choice of fibers - the other designs in the collection were stitched - which you may view within these pages of our online catalog.

Again - The Hunter Needlepoint Figure depicts the Historical Dress Fashion - typical of the era - and very similar to the Quimper and Delft Tile designs - which came later - as the artisans traveled up throughout Europe.
